Giving back to our clinic communities is an important part of Dental Associates’ mission. Because we’re Wisconsin-based and family-owned, we’re always thinking about how we can help our communities not only have the best dental care but also how we can help in other areas of need as well. On August 29, our Franklin clinic hosted a blood drive with the BloodCenter of Wisconsin for our clinic team members and patients. Melissa Borkowski, one of our Patient Care Coordinators, organized the event and helped promote it to our team and patients. We’re excited to be able to help our community during a time of need and look forward to hosting another blood drive in the future!
In general, the Blood Center receives fewer blood donations during summer months. This is because schools make up the majority of organizations that host blood drives for the Blood Center. Dental Associates wanted to step up and help the BloodCenter during their slower period, especially with the recent destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey. It’s important for the BloodCenter to have a full supply of blood on hand not only for the local community in need, but also in case if areas—such as Houston—need additional help from blood centers across the nation.
